April was a wonderful month of renewal for our Khmer brothers and sisters as they celebrated not just the new year but also remember the death and resurrection of our Lord on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Knowing the Lord makes all things new comforts and brings joy to us in so many ways. May these testimonies bring to your memory how God is similarly bringing renewal to your life.

Peam English School – Bringing New Colours to the School

The school had a fresh coat of paint thanks to Melissa Stock, regional director of Freedom Business Alliance. To celebrate International Women’s Day, Melissa chose to volunteer with her friends to paint the exterior walls of the school. The two-day project was a welcoming sight for both teachers and students. The beautiful flowers and soothing colours now greet all who enter the classroom, brightening up their day!

Kok Thmey and Skun – Welcoming newly baptised members to the family!

Church members from Kok Thmey and Skun publicly proclaimed their faith in the Lord and went through the waters of baptism in the river. Their decision to die to their old self and rise to a new life in Christ encouraged their fellow brothers and sister to continue abiding in Christ in all they do. The group, consisting of 23 youths and 7 adults, were filled with joy knowing that God will continue to work in their lives till they see Him face to face.

Kok Thmey, Peam, Run Ta Ek and Skun – Khmer New Year Celebrations

The churches organised celebrations and invited villagers to share in the joys of the festivities. It was a good opportunity to build bridges between the churches and villages. The church members, young and old, helped to decorate the venue and organised activities for all to enjoy. One encouraging sight to see was how the youths in Kok Thmey stepped up to prepare the booths and tent for the villagers to order food and dine together.

Skun – Tearing Down Idols and Renewing Faith

During one of the outreaches to the villages, Pastor Villa visited a church member’s home and discovered an altar resting in the home. After prayer and worship, the family committed to burning the altar and dedicated their household to the Lord. This moment is a good time of reflection for many of us to consider the idols in our lives, tangible and intangible, and whether we can commit in a similar manner to our Lord and burn our idols. May the Lord give us a broken and contrite heart to repent.

Peam YDG – Learning New Ways to Teach

The youths went through a creative bible teaching workshop, learning how to create tools that bring across bible truths in tangible ways for others to understand. It was an eye-opening session for the youths who were mostly familiar with pen and paper bible study materials. They took turns to practice using the presented materials and at the end of the session, each group created their own tools that highlighted the key truths that help believers grow in their faith.

YDGs: Keep the youths in prayer as they step up in their faith and service. Pray that they would continue to be faithful in their walk with the Lord, especially those who were recently baptised. Give thanks also for the recent release of favourable examination results. While most of the students had done well, pray that they may continue to be humble and keep in step with the Lord as they balance their studies and faith.

Sunday Schools and Churches: The recent celebrations brought new connections with villagers. Pray that these villagers would continue to stay connected with the members of the church and that opportunities to reap the harvest would come up with the leading of the Lord!

Mar 2025: Love in the Centre of All We Do

Love never fails. Paul reminds us that without love, all that we do and all that we are would be nothing. For our LAV team in Cambodia, love spurs them on to serve the children, improve themselves and bring the gospel to the community. While these accounts show the progress of the team, we pray that the underlying message of love in our actions would spur you on in your service to others.

Peam English School – Sharing Love and Wisdom in the Classroom

As the academic year in Siem Reap comes to a close, the staff team have been setting aside time every Friday for the students to learn about God’s love and how to live wisely in everyday decisions. More than just developing character, these lessons serve as an outreach effort to expose students to the gospel. Bible passages are taught to them in interesting ways for them to remember.

Besides from frontal teaching, students learn in interesting ways through games and scaffolded activities.

Peam and Kok Thmey YDG – Celebrating God’s Love on Valentine’s Day

For the youths, relationships are important to them. Which is why Kok Thmey church organised a Valentine’s Day programme for the youths to remember what true love is and how Jesus is their valentine. The youths were treated to a skit showing how Jesus loves them. They also wrote love letters to God, expressing their love and heartfelt appreciation for all He has done to show His love. At the end, the youths shared a sumptuous dinner under the stars. It was certainly a night to remember. Thanks to be to God for the team of dedicated teachers and youth leaders who coordinated this event.

Kok Thmey Church – Reaching families with love

The church has started to reach the families of youths who worship at Kok Thmey. In the month of February, we are thankful for the six families who welcomed the church staff warmly into their homes. For some, they had responded to the gospel shared and received Christ as their Lord and Saviour. This is certainly a great start towards sharing the message of God’s love to the families.

The church is also thankful for the students who have stepped up to learn how to play the drums and guitar. We pray that the music they make would be borne out of a deep devotion and adoration towards God.

Run Ta Ek Church – Reaching in love through service

For the month of March, the church is planning an eye check-up clinic and a food pack distribution as part of their outreach effort to the villagers. Pray alongside us as the staff serve the villagers with love that flows from God. For the FDG, they have remained steadfast in their attendance despite the concerns over employment. Pray that the villagers would be able to secure employment and that they would continue to be faithful in all circumstances.

Skun Church – Sharing Bible Stories in the Evening

The villagers at Skun have been responding favourably to the sharing of bible stories in their evening outreach. Many of the children and youths would gather under the soft glow of a single light bulb to listen to the stories of God’s love and power shared by Nayvon. This group has been growing in size and we are hopeful that the seeds of the gospel would take root in their hearts and grow at the right time.

People in Siem Reap: The air quality in Siem Reap dipped due to smog. Pray for the air to clear up and for the Cambodians to have good health and stay safe from the air pollution.

Peam English School: The teachers are busy with the marking of the Grade 6 exams as well as preparing for the graduation ceremony. Pray that the team would be able to plan the graduation ceremony amidst the busyness and find a people to take pictures and print the banner.

YDGs in Peam, Kok Thmey and Skun: The youths in our YDGs are facing opposition from their parents. Pray that the youths would find favour in the eyes of their parents to worship and know God. Pray also that the youths would have wisdom to respond in love to their parents’ opposition.

Kok Thmey, Run Ta Ek and Skun Church: Pray for the families that they may respond to the gospel shared in the different outreach efforts.

Feb 2025: Embracing Growth in Faith and Fellowship

Blessed Chinese New Year! To our beloved Chinese brothers and sisters, CNY is a time to celebrate the arrival of spring from which new growth begins. During our recent team meeting, we rejoiced when we heard inspiring stories of growth in faith and involvement. We give thanks to God for these blessings and pray that these testimonies encourage you in your own personal and corporate ministry.

Peam English School – A New Grade Opens!

We are excited to announce the opening of Grade 7 at our English School! We welcomed our first cohort of 16 eager students, with more expected to join. This milestone brings immense joy to our teachers, who are enthusiastic about building upon the strong foundations established in earlier grades.

Another thanksgiving was the providence of classroom furniture suitable for the teens. Many of them had outgrown the tables and chairs that saw them through Grade 3 to 6. We are grateful for the generous donation of classroom furniture from REECH Cambodia, providing suitable tables and chairs for our growing teens.

Peam Sunday School – New Sunday School teachers join to support more students!

This year, our Peam Sunday School is thrilled to register 100 students, welcoming children from Peam and neighboring villages of Kok Por and Kok Tnot. With the increased student population, the team was thankful for the addition of three new Sunday school teachers, Panha, Mesa and Marady, who will help nurture our students’ journey towards knowing God.

Peam Faithful Discipleship Group (FDG) – Strengthening Leadership!

The FDG in Peam consists of the leaders in the various ministries, Dalen from Run Ta Ek, Sreyka and Sreysros from Peam, and Vatey and Saodern from Kok Thmey. The group meets weekly to seek God through the study and pray for the villages under their care. It is the start of a gathering to share experiences and provide support for each other in the Lord’s work.

Peam and Kok Thmey Youth Discipleship Group (YDG) – Welcoming the Second Generation!

The youths from both YDGs met together for 2025 to enable more interactions between the youths to build on each others’ faith. It was a great time of knowing each other and praying that 2025 would bring fruits to their faith. The first generation of youths from Peam and Kok Thmey also welcomed the second generation and it was a joyous occasion to see the youths earnestly seeking God and build up their understanding of Him.

Kok Thmey Church – Welcoming the Youth!

The Kok Thmey Church recently witnessed an increase in attendance as youths joined the Sunday service, doubling the congregation from 15 to 30! Pharim, a youth member, shared her uplifting testimony about receiving her parents’ blessings to attend church and worship God freely, which encouraged our community to continue to pray for the children in the Sunday school and YDGs.

Skun Church – A New Ministry for Fellowship and Outreach!

Recognizing a shared passion for soccer among all ages, Skun Church started a weekly soccer game to enhance community bonds between the church, YDGs and Sunday school. The members are praying that this initiative will foster connections and strengthen ties among the members while providing outreach opportunities to the community around them.

Run Ta Ek Church – A Growing Community!

Run Ta Ek celebrated nearly doubling its attendance, jumping from from an average of 25 worshippers in 2024 to 40 in January 2025. The fruits from the outreach efforts in 2024 were very evident with testimonies of God’s work being shared. One of the new worshippers was a husband who used to persecute his wife for attending the church in 2024. Through the persistent prayer and outreach efforts, the husband is now worshipping God with his wife. All praise to God!

Run Ta Ek YDG and FDG – The first generation in Run Ta Ek

Exciting times are ahead as seven youths form the first generation of YDG in Run Ta Ek, guided by Dalen, who has been instrumental in their spiritual development when they were in Sunday school.

Equally committed, 18 adults have formed two study groups led by Pastor Olyda and Sean. The latter group, though illiterate, is utilizing the Waha app to facilitate their Bible studies, demonstrating that faith can grow regardless of literacy levels.

Pray with Us!

FDG:
Pray for wisdom for members to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit leading as they grow in their faithfulness through their service in the ministries and live as an example for others to follow after.

YDG:
Pray that the youths will grow deeper in their relationship with God and they may rise up to serve and build each other up in their faith.

Peam English School:
As the teachers teach the new cohort of grade 7 students, pray for them to be able to guide the students in their learning and that all students from grade 3 to 7 will be open to learning and put their lessons into practice.

Sunday Schools:
Keep the children in prayer that they may be able to continue attending Sunday School. Pray that their parents would be supportive of their faith and that their parents would also come to know and worship God deeply through the children.

Churches:
Particularly for Kok Thmey Church, pray for an upcoming outreach to 8 families, of which 6 have already agreed to attend. Pray for the remaining 2 families to respond favourably and that the families will come to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

Particularly for Skun Church, as the church congregation consists mostly of youths, pray that they will rise up to serve in various capacities from setting up the AV equipment to leading the soccer ministry as a means of outreach and fellowship.

Food of Love:
Pray for Om Phallary and her team as they continue their work on the streets reaching out to people and bringing healing to their lives.

May God continue to work in your lives as richly as He does in the lives of the Cambodians.

Nov 2024: Our Inaugural Youth Camp!

On 15 and 16 Nov, our youths gathered for their first ever youth camp at the AOG church. 40 excited youths were from the different Youth Discipleship Groups in Peam, Skun, Kok Thmey and Phnom Krom came together as one to worship God and build each other up. The youths grew stronger in their faith and conviction of the good work that God is bringing about in and through them.

Deborah, a friend of Janice, shares her experience in leading an activity with the youths:

This would be my third trip to Siem Reap with Janice. This time, I was invited to facilitate activities with the LAV youth for their very first Youth Discipleship Group camp. Janice shared that the camp participants came from different villages and she wanted some bonding activities to get them to connect. The main camp committee also felt it would be good if there was space for the youth to share their hurts and struggles and to connect them to their faith.

I was tentative about what I could bring to the table. I can do fun and games anytime and I also had some ideas of using creative arts as a different medium for the youth to process and articulate their thoughts. However, as I’m not a believer, I wasn’t sure how to connect it to the Christian faith. I was also worried about how the youth would engage with the activities. I had some worries going into the YDG camp; I hoped that the planned activities would achieve the intended goals.

In one of our activities, the camp participants created their ‘Bowl of Light’ and shared about the ‘stones’ (personal struggles and pains) that blocked their light. They also expressed how Jesus can be the light for them (which was symbolised by a little glow stick). During this activity, I saw tears, prayers, comfort, and connection. Witnessing the process reminded me of the phrase, “trust the process”. All my anxieties had gone away; the camp participants could connect with the activity and express their voice. I also have to thank my new friend Sa, who interpreted wonderfully for me and created the magic of the story of the ‘Bowl of Light’ to the participants in Khmer. Rather than an interpreter, he really stepped up to be more of a co-facilitator with me to engage the participants.

In this short 2 days and 1 night camp, I saw the camp participants having so much fun during the treasure hunt, campfire and games, and being reflective during their Bible lessons and devotion time. More importantly, connections were formed all around and it was heartwarming to see the camp participants affirming one another and sharing kind and encouraging words during our final closing activity.

I felt an emotionally interesting feeling of contentment with a tinge of sadness as we bade farewell to each other on the last day of camp. It was the same feeling I get every time I leave Siem Reap. To me, it meant, “Goodbye, see you again!”

Sep 2024: Abounding in Blessings

One thing LAV is always thankful for are the multitude of blessings God and His people have given to the various ministries and villages LAV is supporting. Through those blessings, our people are able to abound in every good work to bless the villagers.

Peam English School

The students have been regular in their attendance though a number of the grade 3 students are getting sick with the rise in the number of mosquitoes in the village. The school has completed preparations for the end of year examinations and the start of the 2024/2025 academic year. Pray for the students as they prepare for the exams. Pray also for the new intake of students in November – that the Lord will prepare the hearts of the new registrants and their parents for the gospel of salvation. The admission of more students would mean more opportunities to bring the gospel to the families and villages.

One thanksgiving the teachers have is the blessings from Jenny, a staff from REECH Cambodia. Besides donating the school uniforms and study materials, she gave a new bicycle to one of the students to allow him to commute between school and home.

Peam Sunday School

Peam is seeing an increase in attendance as the students become more involved in the church activities such as the upcoming Christmas skit. They have been enjoying and will continue to enjoy the rehearsals for two skits: Sin Chair and Jesus is Born. Through their rehearsals, they learn to work together and be patient with each other.

Kok Thmey Sunday School

In Kok Thmey, there is much joy to share. Children are eager to attend bible study to learn about God. More teenagers are attending the teen worship service. Families are coming together to pray and worship at night. People are donating clothes and shoes to help the elderly. With more involvement, there is joy amidst the challenges.

Teacher Srey Phorn shares her heart in this newsletter:

“I have learned a lot from students as I taught them about God. I learned to serve patiently and not discriminate against any child. I read more about the word of God, became stronger in faith and more courageous and happier. However, sometimes, I also face some challenges. I need more teachers to help me and I need more teaching resources.”

Skun Sunday School

Children in Skun village have recently received playground equipment from various donors. Pray that the playground would be a place for the children to interact and that the faith of the little ones from Skun Sunday School will pass on to other children they play with.

Run Ta Ek Sunday School

Run Ta Ek Sunday School has been growing in size. The children brought their friends to come and join, increasing the attendance from 20 in July to 29 in August. One of their prayer requests is for a proper fix to the broken fences and gates to keep the church safe. Another prayer request is for a successful outreach on 29 September. Pray that they may be able to bring more people to hear the gospel.

Youth Discipleship Groups (YDG)

The YDGs are growing in their faith. Even with the exams coming in September, the YDGs are seeing the attendance stay regular. It encourages the YDG leaders to continue to build the faith of the youths.

Five students in the Skun YDG declared their faith in Jesus and recently got baptised by the river.

Even when the evil one places thoughts to cause fear, our youths are standing firm in the word and speaking out the truth against lies. Srey Neang from the Peam YDG shared her experience:

“One Sunday morning, I was preparing myself to go to church for youth service. I heard a voice whisper at my ears saying, “don’t believe God, you will get hurt, you will have nothing, people will hate you.” At first, I thought it was my thoughts, but it whispered again. Then I realized that it was an evil spirit, so I said, “As long as I have breath, I will trust and believe in God.” Then the voice ceased.”

What she shared in the group has helped other students to continue to pray and to stand strong in faith.

Faithful men Discipleship Groups (FDG)

After going through two books of the Abundant Life, many of the disciples are knowing God better and their lives are displaying the fruits of the Spirit. Sreisros and Soadern’s groups have two disciples each who have indicated their desire to start their own FDG to build the faith of other disciples. Praise God!

A new group was started by Hav Kouy, from the Food of Love FDGs. She was discipled by Om Phallery and she has stepped up to lead a group of 7 widows in their faith. She also recently graduated from the Bible School with Chantana on 27 August.

At Skun, the FDG came together to prepare land for the playground. In a day, many hands gathered together to clear the soil so that there would be a flat piece of land for the children to play safely.

Food of Love

As the ministry continues to distribute food packs, God has placed upon the hearts of the widows to pray for healing upon the villagers. As they share about God, they also pray for God to be their healer to remove their ailments. Many of the widows were encouraged by the prayers for healing and peace answered by God.

Their prayer request is for the skies to be clear from rain so that they can continue to share the gospel as they bring food and healing to the villagers.

Aug 2024: Transformed Lives Within and Without

We are thrilled to share the latest updates of lives being transformed by the Gospel. Your unwavering support and prayers have been instrumental in our journey, and we hope this update encourages you in your faith and support for the villages.

Peam English School

The teachers recently held a parents’ meeting with an impressive 90% attendance. Parents were overjoyed to see the progress their children were making in school. This strong turnout allowed the teachers to build positive relationships with the families, and we pray that this would bring opportunities to share the gospel to the parents.

As the teachers prepare for the new school year starting in November 2024, they request for your prayers. The team is diligently reviewing lesson plans and materials to ensure the students are able to understand and learn well both the English language and Christian values. Please pray for wisdom and guidance as they make these preparations.

Peam Sunday School

One of the Sunday School children, Sok Puey, shared a testimony that inspired her class and strengthened their faith in God who answers prayers. Sok Puey’s grandfather was seriously ill and required surgery for hernia. Despite the initial surgery revealing a blood clot that required a second operation, Sok Puey remained steadfast in prayer.

After another checkup, the doctor found that the second surgery was no longer needed, and her grandfather was discharged with just medication! Praise be to God for His miraculous healing!

One prayer request from Peam is for the children who have been experiencing skin problems. The school is planning to educate the kids on proper hygiene and to provide medication to treat and clear the parasites from their skin. Your prayers for their healing and well-being are greatly appreciated.

Kok Thmey Sunday School

The church is currently undergoing renovation, and the children are worshipping under a tent in the meantime. This temporary setup has not dampened their spirits, and they look forward to the completion of the renovations.

One thanksgiving is the transformation of one of their students who previously disrupted Sunday School lessons. He had undergone a remarkable transformation and is now a cherished helper in the school. This change has been a great encouragement to our teachers, reaffirming their dedication to guiding children towards transformed lives through Christ.

Another thanksgiving is for the recent purchase of Holy Communion elements, which will be used for the church Holy Communion services. This practice serves as a powerful reminder of Christ’s sacrifice and the redemption and sanctification of believers.

Skun Sunday School

In Skun, many of the children were unable to attend school due to objections from parents or because they were needed to help out on the farm or at home. Please pray that God will watch over these children, keep their faith strong, and soften their parents’ hearts to allow them to attend Sunday School. For the remaining children, the team is thankful for the transformed lives of students who are now eager to serve each other in Sunday school.

Run Ta Ek Sunday School

God has touched the children to pray and worship boldly. Many have started to sing and pray out loud. Please pray that this outward display of their faith will continue to stem from the inward working of the Spirit in their lives.

Youth Discipleship Groups at Peam, Skun and Phnom Krom

The leaders were grateful for the youth revival camp, where youths from different churches and some non-believers attended a three-day camp. Thank God for the renewal of faith and the seeds of the gospel planted in the hearts of those who have yet to believe.

The groups are also thankful for answered prayers, with students achieving good results in their studies and gaining wisdom to live their lives right before God.

Please pray that they will grow more in their knowledge of who God is and that their love for Him will deepen. Pray also for the protection of their faith amidst persecution and attacks from the evil one.

Food of Love

From a recent outreach, the number of women attending the weekly bible study has grown from 15 to 26. Thank God that the message of the Gospel continues to spread and touch more lives.

June 2024 – Disciples Bearing Fruits

The LAV team is pleased to share updates of the fruits of our ministry. One common refrain from the staff updates is that of disciples rising up to bear fruit that pleases God. As you read, give thanks to the Lord for His work in the lives of the Cambodians.

Widows’ Ministry

Om Sipak has been leading the Widows’ Ministry faithfully and the ladies have been growing in their faith and service, meeting regularly to receive both spiritual and physical nourishment. One of the highlights from the ministry is the formation of a new discipleship group by one of Om Sipak’s disciples. This group is based in Phnom Krom and they have started on the Abundant Life book.

Peam English School

Students have been attending classes regularly with most having an attendance above 75%. However, 25 have dropped out due to the inconvenience of travelling long distances to school daily. These students have found schools nearer their homes. Out of the remaining 105 students, 102 had passed their mid-year examinations.

One key programme the school had was inviting Cambodia Education Forum (CEF) to share about children’s rights and how they can protect themselves from abuse.

Peam and Kok Thmey Sunday School

With the reopening of schools from the holidays, attendance at Peam and Kok Thmey has improved with 50 and 35 regular attendees respectively. The children have been enjoying the lessons and are actively participating by serving each other and playing together. For Mothers’ day, the children prepared paper flowers to show their appreciation to their mothers.

At Peam, the Sunday School conducted an evangelistic event during Khmer New Year in which 30 parents attended. Pastor Kunthea shared how new life can be received through Jesus. Food and gifts were also shared with the parents.

At Kok Thmey, the Sunday School celebrated the Khmer New Year with worship, games and a communal lunch. The parents were also invited to join in the festivities and got closer together as a family.

Youth Discipleship Groups (YDGs)

The YDGs in Peam and Kok Thmey are thankful to God for the growth He has been bringing to the groups. They have been learning the fundamentals of prayer and reading the word. Though both groups are small with 14 regular attendees, God has been working through them to do great things.

One of the youths, Rosa, shared with the church how God had been answering her prayers and expressed her desire to be baptised and be identified as a follower of Jesus.

The youths have also banded together to form a worship service for teenagers. About 40 teens from 3 different villages have been attending the service every Sunday. The youths are looking forward to raising the 2nd generation of faithful YDG youths from this service.

April 2024: Cambodian Mission Team Report from Hebron BP Church

Church members from Hebron BP Church went on a mission trip in March 2024 to Cambodia and visited the various ministries in Love-A-Village (LAV). Pastor Nathanael Tan shares his account of the experiences the team had.

Widows ministry at New Living Hope Centre (NLHC)

Our first ministry stop was at NLHC where we joined the widows for worship and fellowship. The term ‘widow’ is used quite loosely in Cambodia and can mean a woman whose husband had died, or is a divorcee. Sister Deborah shared a testimony about leading family worship and I shared about my mother who faithfully witnessed to my father till he went home to the Lord. Both testimonies were well received.

The widows enjoyed the butterfly craft session by Sister Christina and no-bake tarts session by Sister Grace. We also distributed shoes donated by a company in Singapore. It was also encouraging to witness the faithfulness of the Khmer sisters who oversaw this ministry.

Peam English School

At Peam English School, LAV supports School Principal Sreisros and 2 teaching staff who conduct English enrichment classes. The English classes are held through the week and are well taught. They also conduct Christian values lessons weekly. Some students also attend the Sunday school regularly. Through the craft session, we interacted with about 20 primary 5 and 6 children and I shared a message on the fruit of the Spirit.

Worship with Run Ta Ek Church

Run Ta Ek church serves the people relocated from areas near Angkor Wat. It is quite remote, and street signs haven’t been put up yet. Om Da had a burden for the people there and would hold a weekly service every Friday, on top of her weekend ministry in her home church. Elder David played the guitar and we presented the song “Jesus Strong and Kind” to the congregation. I preached on the prodigal son, and Pastor Vongsa who was visiting read scripture for me. I must admit that being from a Bible Presbyterian church, we were not used to the loud music, but we knew the worship came from hearts that were full of praise and reverence for God. At the end of the service, we distributed food packs sponsored by Hebron.

Reflections

We were impressed by the passion and drive of Janice, who had devoted 8 years to God’s work in Siem Reap. She has also built up a good partnership with local churches, which provided resources and church volunteers to support the Sunday Schools for students and youth fellowships.

I have also seen how Janice nurtured and trained the staff of LAV, empowering them to lead their ministries. At one meeting I attended, she challenged her staff and volunteers to plan for their first combined youth camp. She listened to feedback given, and was firm when needed. The result was that all involved owned the project, and were excited to carry it out.

I felt that LAV balanced the meeting of felt needs (education, food packs) with meeting deeper spiritual needs (Bible study, fellowship). They ministered to the whole person, in a sustainable way through gospel partnerships with local and foreign churches.

I was also encouraged by the sacrificial service of faithful servants of God like Pastor Bunnath, Om Da and Pastor Vongsa. Despite challenges like health and limited support, they continued to serve God and His people faithfully. It challenged me to remember Whom I was serving, and to be willing to serve sacrificially myself.

We were all blessed by this trip and look forward to future projects with LAV.

Sept/Oct 2023 Updates

Kok Thmey Sunday School, Peam English School, Peam Sunday School, Updates from Sreisros / Zhiliang Lin

Dear Supporters

How are you and your family doing? How is the weather in your country? Recently, it has been raining a lot in Siem Reap, but I am grateful for everything because God provides water for the farmers. My family and I are doing well. I have started my Bible class and everything is going well. I am encouraged by the words of God and happy to have the chance to meet other people who are serving the Lord in different places in Cambodia.

English School

Our school is doing well. Teachers have tried their best to teach their students. 79% of students come regularly, but a few students have dropped out, mostly because of their family situation. This month, we encountered some problems because the state school had added an extra day of PE into the school timetable. Students had to miss one English class as a result. However, to enable students not to miss a lesson, I have rescheduled, temporarily, that affected students will study 1-2PM and 2-3PM every Monday.

I had a meeting with all school principals in Pouk District Department Hall. The meeting is about encouraging all schools to develop digital learning. The Deputy District Governor said that in the future, our country will need to be able to help students study at home, so digital learning will help a lot. However, he understands that in the village there is no Internet, so it will be still difficult for the school to do that. I wonder what then will the Ministry of Education do to help villages.

I would like to share one student’s story. His name is Vichai – he is 10-year-old and in grade 3B. He shared with us that after learning that in Jesus Christ, there is no fear because God is faithful, he became much less fearful. He was afraid of ghosts, and has heard that when people die, they will become ghosts and will frighten the living. So, we told him to pray whenever he was afraid. He did, and he told us that he felt peace when he prayed. I pray that his faith will continue to grow.

Peam Sunday School

We have about 50 to 60 students coming for Sunday School every week, and quite a lot more when we have celebrations. This month, we taught students how to bravely testify of Jesus and to pray like Jesus. Students learnt why and how to pray and to tell others about God. However, they will need to experience God’s presence in their lives first before they can tell others about God. We also printed the Lord’s prayer and the ten commandments for them to remember. We heard some students talking to each other about wanting to share with their parents believing in Jesus and learning about God’s word. I pray that God will give these students courage to speak for Him and that these families will enjoy God’s peace and blessings.

Kok Thmey Sunday School

Sunday School lessons were about God’s promises to Abraham. Students learn about the Promised Land and to trust God’s promises and take Abraham as an example. They are also starting to practise dancing for Christmas. They will also help teachers to make craft as the stage decoration.

August 2023 Updates – Peam Sunday School

So far, our Sunday School has been doing well, but recently, we are short of volunteers as many volunteers are preparing for their grade 12 exam. However, we are happy to see them studying hard. We pray that all of our volunteer teachers will pass the exam in December.

We are planning for 2024 to focus on our youth group and will be discipling them to become teachers in the future. We still continue to teach younger children as usual in the Sunday School. To disciple youths to be teachers, I am now training teacher Srey Ka and teacher Dalen to be able to use the material for teaching and training the youths.

As I serve in the Sunday School ministry, I feel happy to see people coming to God. I want to be more equipped to serve well in this ministry, and I also want to learn more about God’s word, and have decided to attend Bible Mission School. Please pray for me as I am a mother, a principal, a teacher, and a student.
