2023 March Updates

Updates from Sreisros

Dear Supporters

I trust you and your family are doing well. It is wonderful to share with you what God is doing in Cambodia. Thank you so much for coming alongside your support in the ministry. I hope that my letters encourage you when you hear how God has grown the ministry and how lives are being changed. I am thankful for how God has blessed the English School and the Sunday School, and my family too. We are doing well, especially my sister who just got engaged to a good Christian man last week.

English School

Our school is very useful to the Peam community, and it is recognized by villagers, the village chief, and the commune chief. I believe we are slowly, but surely, building loving and strong people for God’s kingdom. As the Bible says “let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Updates for this month:

  • Student Report Book to be approved by the board before printing
  • Discussion on tracking of homework is still ongoing
  • Written exam papers for all grades have been completed and awaiting approval from the board
  • Trainee teacher to teach in grade 3 next month
  • School break of 3 weeks for Khmer New Year in April

Peam Sunday School

God is always with us – day by day, week by week. The seeds of God’s word are planted in people’s hearts, and eventually, these seeds will bear fruit, and I can’t wait to see the results of all the hard work everyone puts in. We have started collecting offerings again so children and youths can learn about giving to God. On one of the Sundays, we invited a child from the Sunday School to pray for everyone.

The youths are using a discipleship book with bible verses for their bible study. For the past few weeks, they are learning about the person of Jesus Christ (Jesus as God, and Jesus as human). After lessons, we pray and worship together.

A food pack distribution was carried out in Peam, with food packs going to 70 families. My mother shared the gospel and invited everyone to pray and repeat after her. My mother then went around and invited people to go to Kok Thmey Church, which is nearby. I hope to see some of them open up their hearts and go to church.

Kok Thmey Sunday School

Kok Thmey Sunday School has been doing well so far. Most children like doing crafts after lessons. There are two services in Kok Thmey Church – one for children and one for adults. I’m thankful that the needed repair works in the church have been completed. Everyone feels good to come to church to attend the service. I hope there will be more people coming to God.

Food pack distribution was also carried out in Kok Thmey. The program and the sharing went well. We are waiting to see who will come to church after this distribution. Please pray for us!

Thanksgiving for:

  • God’s protection when travelling to school
  • Having wonderful teamwork
  • Teacher Dalen completing her 3-month probation
  • God’s provision in repair works in the church
  • Some English School students who prayed to God

Prayer Request:

  • Wisdom and strength
  • Building permission
  • Financial support for Pastor Bunnath at Kok Thmey Church.

Food of Love 2022

It’s been 3 months since we started Food of Love on 1 Dec! This ministry was started with the intention to show the love of Christ through giving hot meals to widows from the church and those who live or work close to the church.

Ministry to the Widows

The widows have been gathering at the church every week for a time of Bible teaching, praise and prayer. After their time together, they then brought home hot and nutritious meals for themselves and their grandchildren. The widows have shared that having a programme dedicated specially for them makes them feel loved and cared for, because they feel forgotten by the rest of society. God is a protector of widows (Psalm 68:5), and what a joy and privilege it is to be able to be part of this ministry.

Ministry to the Needy

The Food of Love ministry is also supported by volunteers who walk along the streets around the church to give out meals to those in need such as garbage collectors, construction workers, cleaners, etc. Prayer is offered, and they are pointed to church if they are in need of any help in the future.

The volunteers shared that on the first week, they were at a loss as to where to go, but God led them to an alley near the church to families that were in need of help. They have been reaching out to these households every week since then, and have built up relationships with them.

One household consists of a grandmother with 13 grandchildren under her care. When the volunteers first met her, she was not able to walk and requested for a wheelchair so she could move around. The volunteers taught her how to pray and noticed that she’s been increasingly open to not just receiving but wanting to join in prayer as well. About a month since they began praying for healing of her legs, she was able to stand up and walk!

The neighbours started taking notice of the regular visitors (who they know to be Christians) to the household, and peeped in to try and see what’s going on. Now, this household and the grandmother’s household (her grandchildren are now attending Sunday School in the church) have become Christians. Praise God for his mercy and power – for the salvation of these entire households. WE pray for the church to continually be a beacon of light to those around them!

Glory to God for how he has multiplied the little that we’ve given him into so much. Pray that every act of love will make an impact far beyond all we ask or imagine!

Nov’21 Food Pack Distributions

My name is Vichea and I am the Kok Trum Village I/C. I  would like to say thank you Lord for blessing my villagers. They are really happy to receive the food pack because it is a difficult time in Covid situation. They have no jobs and no income.

Thank you to all the supporters from Singapore that always help the people in Cambodia. I hope you continue to help our villagers next year. Please pray for our villagers to stay safe and healthy.

May God bless all of you!

My name is Sreisros. As a village coordinator, I am so happy to see the smile of happiness from the people who needed help. Among these people, there are some widows who are in difficult situations. They are very happy to receive the food packs from supporters. During the distribution,  I shared one story from the Bible with them. A few of them said Christians have a big heart to love, to help, and to share with other people. After the event finished, I interviewed three villagers.

One of them said:

I’m so happy today because I am in need of food, and now I got all the free food. It will last 1 or 2 weeks for my family.

Om Puerth (Lovea Village I/C) sharing the Bible story with the poor villagers

Thank you Lord for the food pack distribution in Lovea village. This time, the programme was smooth and the Village Chief, Commue Chief and Police Chief also joined with us.

The villagers felt happy to receive the food and they learnt more about Jesus.

I feel happy with this project. I hope next year it will continue as that is my chance to share more to villagers about God.

Thank you supporters! May God bless all of you. Please continue to pray for my villagers and our team’s safety, health and faith.

Om Puerth (Lovea Village I/C)

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work on this project. This is the first time I joined. I felt so happy when our villagers received the food packs and thank you Lord for blessing them.

My team made a lot of mistakes and I hope everything improves the next time.

Food Pack Distributions

Reflections from Sreisros: First of all, I would like to thank God for today’s programme – it went very well. 57 families received the food packs.

The food packs and also some contributions from the villagers themselves.

I heard a few families say that these will help them for at least 2 or 3 weeks. They are very grateful to the supporters for thinking of them in this situation.

The village chief and me!

Also, I invited the village chief (in the photo with me) and the vice-commune chief to give us a speech at the end of our programme. Both of them say thank you to Love-A-Village for your support.

Here’s a pictorial report on the distributions:
